Life-Span vs health-span

“Take good care of your body, it’s the only place you have to live in.”

Why should we consider health-span instead of life-span?

In a world where chronic health challenges are on the rise globally (type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune conditions, depression and infertility) we need to provide education rooted in science to empower people to advocate for themselves and make good choices for their unique bodies.

How we feel and how we experience life depends on our genetics as well as on our lifestyle and our environment. It’s always a question of context. Considering that we spend many waking hours at work, this puts employers in a unique position to create true win-win situations.

Hybrid working models have started to put cracks in the artificial separation between the person “at home” and the person “at work”. We cannot leave the stress caused by the challenges a child with ADHD experiences at school or the worry that comes with caring for an elderly parent “clocked out” the minute we “clock in” at work. Neither can we leave work’s stress outside our front door, the moment we close it on the inside.

It’s not a question of choice, it’s a question of human physiology.
